Welcome! 

J/M Pottery is a functional small batch ceramics studio in Vancouver, B.C, consisting of sister and brother duo, Juliann and Matt McGale. 

We take pride in the variety of our work, whether it be wheel thrown or hand built. Our techniques vary from using a range of different glazes to dyeing the clay itself with pigments.

Our inspiration and influence comes from traditional Japanese methods such as Nerikomi and Neriage ceramics. Nerikomi is the process of stacking and slicing coloured clay to reveal a pattern or design, which is then used in hand building. Neriage is the process of throwing coloured clay on the wheel, giving it a swirled, “marbled” effect.

Every piece is crafted with care and may display variations in colour, glaze, shape and size. We do our best to accurately show and describe each individual item. We enjoy experimenting with different colours so you can expect to find one-of-a kind pieces and limited collections. 

While all glazes are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing for longevity. 

Please feel free to contact us about custom orders. We are currently only shipping within Canada, but can make exceptions depending upon the order. Shipping can be a bit tricky, if there is an overcharge on shipments containing multiple items, we will e-transfer you the difference.
